What do rewards mean for your customer?

Remember when your barista gave you a free cookie with your flat white, the florist added an extra stem into your bouquet, or that once in a blue moon when you got an upgrade? Well, so do your customers. Oh, that warm fuzzy feeling when you get a free cookie can't be beaten. These rewards can range in all shapes and sizes; some stick with consumers more than others. Let's dig into that hereโ€ฆโ€

โ€

โ€Why should I offer rewards to customers?

This one is pretty simple, from speaking with consumers, merchants and customers of ours. Rewarding a customer will increase your sales by 20% and sometimes even double spending if your average transaction value is low. โ˜• Cafes, for instance, and double and triple revenue by offering free oat milk for flat white!

But even more than this, rewarding your customers gives them more reasons to your customers to talk about your business with their friends. What do you think is one of the most potent rewards out there? One which isn't even branded as a rewards system, but it's very powerful.

Pret A Manger gives anyone free oat, almond, or soya milk with any coffee. This is a winner. Since launching this, they've seen their sales rocket and customer stickiness increase. After all, if you want oat milk, you either pay 50p next door or get it for free with Pret.

This style is such a simple reward method and costs very little, but it gives a very satisfying experience to customers.

How should I offer rewards to customers?

There are so many different ways to reward customers, and even though setting up a rewards system may seem daunting and expensive, it doesn't need to be.

Alongside the Boost that we can power at Trilo, there are many alternatives and old-school ways to do this. If you run a shop that sells similar items frequently, cafes, food stands, hairdressers etc., you've got many options available. If you're running a shop, clothes store or another business, there are other options to dig into.

To start things off, you can do one of two things when running a cafe. First is a simple loyalty card, so customers get their 5th or 10th coffee or order free. This is tried and tested and useful but not the most impactful. You would think that it would drive people to come back. However, most cafes have this offering, so customers tend to shop around.

Another more impactful reward is a free upgrade, whether that upgrade is free oat milk or going from a regular to a large one. This has a massive impact, and you'll find people coming back time and time again with this. This type of reward stands out from the crowd and gives an immediate endorphin kick.

You'll be able to use the Boost with Trilo to immediately provide this type of reward with little to no hassle on either side. Get in touch if you want to find out about this.

Can I offer rewards using Trilo?

Of course, you can ๐ŸŽ‰ At Trilo, we've built rewards, what we call a Boost, right into our core. Every time a customer shops, they get a reward, and we're also able to give merchants tips linked to their customer's shopping habits.

To give some flavour, here are some examples of Boosts that merchants give their customers at the moment, ranging from a free pint ๐Ÿบ with a round, an upgrade to a large coffee, and an extra stem in their bouquet ๐Ÿ’.

Over time, by rewarding customers, we're also able to give a merchant the tools to increase sales of unique items and show them actionable insights on what they can do to drive increased revenues and improve their customer's experience.

Trilo also provides a simple and easy way to manage and track your rewards program, so you can see how it impacts your business. At the end of the day, when you're rebuilding shopping and payments from the ground up, it's easier than ever to make it rewarding ๐ŸŽ.
